The West Horsley Village Hall was full of colour on Saturday 15th September, when the West Horsley Horticultural Society held their Autumn Show.
There were full displays of Dahlias and flowers, A laden table of fruit and vegetables, and plenty of handicrafts and home baking including the class that had the biggest entry which was the ‘MEN ONLY’ apple cake!
Alan Richards won the judge’s award for his magnificent single dahlia bloom, as well as the Fuchsia trophy.
The Smitham Cup for dahlias was won by Terry Lazenby.
Local gardener and committee member, Claire Brown, was awarded cups for her fruit & vegetable entries
Clare Dawson - a first time cup winner, won the Rubin Cup for most
points in the flower sections helped by her spectacular hanging basket .
Jane Lazenby was awarded a Banksian Medal a prestigious medal awarded by the RHS, which requires an accumulation of points from amazing flowers in the Summer and Autumn show.
The Homecraft cup was won by Nina Foot and her mince pies were ‘Best in Show’, and there was also a closely contested battle in the childrens competitions
